Privacy policy
The Gaming Gym ("we") runs the website at https://thegaminggym.com. This page explains what we collect and why.
Playing without an account
You can play every drill without signing in. Your scores, settings and personal bests are then stored only in your own browser (local storage). We do not receive them.
If you sign in
Sign-in is handled by Supabase using Google or Discord. We receive a user ID, your display name and profile picture URL from that provider. We store:
- your public player card: nickname, first name from your login (if you set no nickname), profile picture, country, main game and bio, if you fill them in;
- your best score per drill and number of runs, shown on public leaderboards;
- a private copy of your run history so your records follow you to other devices.
We do not see or store your password or e-mail address in the public tables. Your e-mail address may be held by Supabase as part of the login.
Sharing and challenges
Share images and challenge links are created in your browser. A challenge link contains the name you typed and your scores; anyone you send it to can read them.
Gym Pass purchases
The Gym Pass is sold through Polar, which acts as merchant of record: it takes the payment, handles tax and refunds, and receives your name, e-mail, billing country and payment details under its own privacy policy (https://polar.sh/legal/privacy). We never see your card details.
If you buy while signed in, your user ID is passed to the checkout, and Polar tells our server when the order is paid or refunded. We then store only that your account has the pass and the order number.
Having the pass is shown publicly as a small "PASS" badge next to your name on leaderboards. It never changes your scores or ranking.
Cookies and ads
The site itself uses your browser's local storage for records and settings, not tracking cookies. If ads are switched on, we show ads through Google AdSense on a few pages (never during a drill). Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technologies to show ads and measure them. The first time you visit, we ask whether you accept personalised ads. If you decline, Google is asked to show only non-personalised ads, which still use cookies for frequency capping, fraud prevention and aggregate reporting. You can change your choice by clearing this site's data in your browser. Gym Pass holders see no ads. More: How Google uses information from sites that use its services, and you can turn off personalised ads at adssettings.google.com.
Processors
Supabase (database and login), Cloudflare (hosting), Google Fonts, cdnjs and jsDelivr (fonts and scripts), Polar (Gym Pass payments), Google AdSense (ads, if enabled).
Deleting your data
Clear your browser data to remove local records. To delete your account and everything stored with it, e-mail [email protected] from the address you signed in with.
Children
The site is not directed at children under 14. Do not sign in if you are under that age.
